History
The History of College Corner Brethren Church
College Corner was organized as part of the Brethren Church November 11, 1886 when a few members of the Dunkard faith purchased a building formerly used by the Christian Church. The building was, at that time, located on the northeast corner of County Roads 900 South and 500 West. The congregation received its name because a man by the name of Davis, who lived on that same corner, was the first man to send a son off to college. The church quickly became known as ‘the church at the corner by the boy who went off to college’. The church building was moved to its current location on the west side of the intersection in 1917. The east wing and basement were added, and on July 7, 1918 dedication services were held. The parsonage and a 60 acre farm were purchased in 1953. In 1958 a west wing was added along with a new entrance, and a library being completed in 1961. Another expansion was completed in 2002 which included new worship space, a fellowship hall, and staff offices.
Twenty-six pastors have served the College Corner congregation since her organization in 1886. The congregation has experienced steady and continual growth through the years. With this growth, the College Corner congregation has remained focused on providing Christ-centered, Bible-centered teaching and guidance to those families who call College Corner home.
